Papier-mâché daruma dolls have the meaning of warding off evil spirits, family harmony, and having wishes come true, so they are used for general wishes such as prosperous business and sure victory.
▶Maneki Neko
Cats were used as a lucky charm for sericulture in ancient times, as they exterminated rats that ate crops and silkworms, but after sericulture declined, they became a lucky charm for business prosperity.
There is a theory that beckoning cats were originally made using a pottery method called Imado ware, which was produced around Imado Town in Asakusa. *Contains opinions
