【OBP】Okinawan Dessert Making: Fresh from the Farm

1 hour and 30 minutes

Easy

Make delicious and organic desserts featuring real Okinawan sugar cane and bananas fresh from the farm.
Experience life on a local organic farm in subtropical Okinawa. Meet up with a local banana farmer and take a tour of where some of Okinawa’s most famous produce is grown. The first stop is at a sugarcane farm where you’ll learn about the tools and skills to create real sugar. Try to harvest some for yourself by chopping the canes and squeezing the delicious sugary juice out from inside. Watch as the experts condense the juice into enough brown sugar to fill a souvenir bag for you to take home. Next up stop by a banana field and pick your own fresh Okinawan bananas. After the final tour head back to the kitchen and turn what you farmed into a delicious dessert of caramelized bananas served with banana ice cream. Learn all about the local farming culture and take home some special sugar to use in your own kitchen.
