You will meet your guide at Osu Kannon Temple, a famous place of worship in Nagoya. Your guide will tell you the differences between a Shinto shrine and a Buddhist temple. After you make a wish, you will be able to start the foodie portion of this Nagoya food tour!
Our next stop is the Osu Shopping Street, which has a history of over 400 years and over 1000 shops and restaurants. Here, you’ll taste the traditional street foods sure to satisfy both sweet tooth and savory cravings, and you’ll find out all about their origin story and significance of each dish you try.
For example, you’ll try dishes like gohei mochi (a grilled rice cake that’s a specialty from Gifu prefecture), karaage (the classic Japanese fried chicken), and miso kushi katsu (deep-fried skewers of meat with a hearty red miso sauce). There will also be a stop where you can try an “ebifry” (deep-fried shrimp) sandwich. Of course, you’ll also get to try local Nagoya specialties like uiro (a traditional Japanese steamed sweet that has been produced locally for over a century).
Please note that the exact contents of the tour are subject to change depending on availability.
