Experience a night out in Tokyo’s thriving LGBTQ+ areas of Asakusa and Nichome.
While Japan is generally known for being a culture that focuses on conformity and hiding your true feelings, there are still areas where the LGBTQ+ community thrives. In Tokyo, Asakusa and Shinjuku Nichome have become home to the community’s lively nightlife scene. Eat and drink your way through these unique locations while learning about the history and culture of the area. Experience the gorgeous Sensoji Temple lit up at night and walk through the old-style streets that are now full of gay bars, bathhouses, and unique stores. Then head to Shinjuku where you can enjoy a meal at a famous yakitori chicken skewer restaurant and unwind with a Japanese beer. Once you’ve fueled up head out to Nichcome and drink in the nighttime atmosphere of this iconic area. Learn about the challenges of the LGBTQ+ community in Tokyo as you drink and talk with the regulars. While the tour ends at 9:30, your expert guide can recommend you the best spots to continue the fun. With 300 gay bars and clubs in Nichome you could keep the party going all night long.
