Restaurant Details

This stunning Tokyo restaurant specializes in Shojin Ryori, or “the food of the devoted.” This is the vegetable and tofu based cuisine which was developed in the temples of Japan. Since 1950, the menu at Daigo has stood testament to the incredible variety of this historic cuisine. Even more impressive is the fact that Daigo has held on to two Michelin stars for 15 years.

They offer 4 different set course meals to choose from, which change every 3 weeks to make the most of the freshest seasonal produce. Expect a range of seasonal vegetables, various kinds of tofu, and delicious soba noodles.

A sense of nature is brought to several of the dining rooms through views of the beautiful, mossy, temple-like garden which runs along the length of the building. All of the seating is in such private tatami rooms, which can accommodate groups of up to 58.  This offers a perfect chance for diners who would prefer to avoid meat products while enjoying traditional Japanese cooking, or simply get a window into a unique culinary subculture. Be sure to mention vegan needs at the time of booking to make 100 percent sure no egg is used.
